About the process that decided to change a flag that historically represented all Utahns? This decision should have been put to the people of Utah, not only voted on at the legislature.
The flag represents all the people of Utah, people who hold dear the American flag, the eagle, Utah’s history, and hard work. Utah has always been independent in spirit and our industry entrepreneurial in nature.
What does the new appointed flag represent? Not our historic foundation. It’s unclear what kind of progress it represents.
This clearly illustrates a weakness in how voters engage with government. It’s also a warning that our caucus system must have strong citizen engagement. Next year, the Caucus is March 6th.
If you want change, you must double-down and become a citizen stakeholder in next year’s fight for stronger representation in Utah government.
